Experience Report on the 3D-EM Course "TOM Software Toolbox: Acquisition and Analysis for Electron Tomography"
16 - 20 April 2007, Max-Planck-Institute of Biochemistry, Martinsried, Germany
Course leaders: Dr. Juergen M. Plitzko and Dr. Stephan Nickell
The course was well structured and well organized. In five days we went through the basic principles of electron tomography, collected data at the Polara and continued with image processing and image analysis using the TOM toolbox. In addition to software being developed in Martinsried, we looked at other tools such as Xplore3D, iTEM, Amira and Chimera. Lecturers and PhD students were very helpful and knowledgeable. All in all I’m very satisfied with the course, the accommodation and the dinners. The only thing I could possibly complain about would be the lunch food.
